Friday 18 September

It’s Filmmaker Fridays! This week’s featured filmmaker is Sakichi Sato who directed Tokyo Zombie. I love this film! It’s so funny and entertaining and he takes a very interesting route with the zombies.

So far at TIFF I’ve seen Daybreakers and Survival of the Dead. Both films were really good but I think I may have liked Daybreakers more than Romero’s zombie film. Reviews will be up soon, maybe by the end of the week if you’re lucky.

The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988)

Wes Craven directed this film about an anthropoligist visiting Haiti to investigate claims that some sort of black magic is being used to turn people into zombies. It’s a different take on how the dead can rise again.

Cemetary Man (1994)

A cemetary caretaker runs into some serious trouble when the dead begin rising and he must put them back in their graves.

It’s Filmmaker Fridays! This week’s featured filmmaker is Lucio Fulci. He has made some of the goriest zombie films, plus one where a zombie fights a shark. Now that’s pretty cool.

The review for District 9 is now up, so go read it and see the film!

Happy Beatles day!
